Friends 2018 Spring Used Book Sale

Due to inclement weather, the Friends Spring Used Book Sale was relocated inside the library.  But no one’s spirits were dampened by the lack of sunshine, and sales were brisk ….to say the least.  We’re thrilled that so many library patrons stopped by to browse and buy from our wide-ranging collection of books, CD’s and DVD’s.   The funds we raised will allow us to continue to enhance the library’s programs and services.  A special thanks to all the volunteers who made the event possible.

Friends of the Lynnfield Library Seeking Material for the Spring 2018 Used Book Sale

Now that spring has arrived, the Friends of the Lynnfield Library have scheduled the seasonal book sale for Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the Town Common.  In case of inclement weather, the Lynnfield Library will accommodate the sale inside the building.

At this time, the Friends would like to request donations of hardcover fiction and non-fiction, small and large fiction and non-fiction paperbacks, DVDs, and all children and young adult materials.  The Friends really appreciate your choosing us to receive quality used books and media materials.  Please check that your donations do not have water damage, ripped or missing pages, mold, stains, or debris.   Furthermore, keep in mind that there are a few items the Friends cannot accept including VHS tapes, textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed collections, magazines, games or puzzles.

Kindly bring your boxed or bagged donations to the Library Circulation Desk.  It would be most helpful for the staff if you could use boxes or bags that you can leave at the library with your donations.  Just a reminder that to provide sufficient processing time, the Library is accepting donations through the period ending one week before the sale.

Antiques in the Attic Appraisal Day

The Lynnfield Library is kicking off its 125th Birthday celebration with an “Antiques in the Attic” Appraisal Day on Monday, July 17 from 2-7 pm at the Meeting House on the Common.

Bring in your family treasures, inherited heirlooms, or flea market finds, and get a verbal auction estimate from one of the expert appraisers of Skinner Auctions & Appraisals.  During your consultation, the appraiser will discuss issues of age and condition and provide an estimated value based on current market prices for a similar example.  Participants will receive verbal information and an auction estimate, no written appraisals can be provided.

For services of china or silver, one example of each piece in a set accompanied by a list of the total number of pieces will serve to represent the entire set.  Additionally, it is recommended that good quality photos be substituted for large or particularly fragile items.

Support the Friends of the Lynnfield Library with your $10 donation to get an item appraised. ($10/item, limit 3 items per person)

Tickets must be purchased in advance as there are a limited number of timeslots (120) available for appraisal.  Reservations must be made in person, so please stop by the Lynnfield Library to buy your ticket (cash or check) and reserve a time slot to come in for your appraisal.  Checks payable to Friends of the Lynnfield Library.
