January is FOLL Annual Appeal time! We invite ALL those who use and love the Lynnfield Public Library to renew your membership, or join for the first time.
What does being a “member” mean? We are glad you asked!
Did you know that much of what you do and see at the library is not paid for out of the library’s budget, but from funds raised by FOLL? Have you participated in a program? Used a library pass? Used the printer? All FOLL funded!
Being a FOLL member is a way to support the library – it can be as simple as the donation provided by your membership fee, volunteering at one of our book sales, or getting involved with the FOLL Board.
To find out more, check out our membership page and join us today!

This Saturday is the return of the Country Store AND the Lynnfield Recreation Tree Lighting on the Common. We are joining the festivities with a book sale to support the Lynnfield Public Library, fully stocked up on winter holiday favorites, cookbooks and giftable books of all kinds.

You may best know the Friends of the Lynnfield Library (FOLL) by our eager calls for your used book donations and our biannual book sales on the Lynnfield Common. But did you know that the Friends is a membership organization joined by people like you who use the Library regularly? The funds raised through the Friends support a wide variety of essential activities, from staff development to funding for programming that engages children, teens, and adults to the widely used museum passes. FOLL partners with the Library to continue its critical role in the Lynnfield community, enhancing its offerings for the benefit of all. If you’re not a FOLL member, you should be! There’s no better time than Giving Tuesday to start giving back–memberships start at as little as $25 annually and go a long way. Follow this link to learn more or click on the banner above!

We’re thankful that the holidays are returning to some normalcy this year. But that means you’ll likely be busier hosting and attending events with family and friends. Are you already tired just thinking about cooking and cleaning up? If so, we’ve the perfect solution to mix things up, give yourself a break, and raise money for the Friends of the Lynnfield Library (FOLL)!
Treat yourself to dinner at Chipotle at MarketStreet on Monday, November 29 between 4-8 pm, and a generous portion of the sale will go directly to support FOLL and the great programs at the Library. You can visit in person and show the flyer linked below (either printed out or on your phone screen), or order online for pickup and use the code AJBGAAZ (note: delivery orders will not count toward the fundraiser). Be sure to mention the Friends fundraiser and enjoy your well deserved break from holiday cooking!

Our names are Anne Malenfant and Stacy Neal, and we are very excited to connect with you as the new Co-Presidents of the Friends of the Lynnfield Library (FOLL). We are humbled to take on these roles, which Shay and Alison have so effectively shaped during their tenures since 2019. We thank them, as well as the entire FOLL Board, who have generously and openly shared their impressive collective knowledge with us during this transition. Their work has built and strengthened FOLL and left us with a wonderful foundation for the future.
FOLL is a special organization to both of us. As lifelong readers and librarygoers, we are each raising our young families in Lynnfield to (hopefully!) be the same, and we have have spent countless hours at the Lynnfield Public Library. The Library’s resources and programs have been invaluable throughout various stages of our lives—whether attending toddler storytime and ice cream parties as a way to connect with other families; dressing up for Harry Potter events that brought a whole world to life for our young readers; accessing museum passes to explore the arts and history of Boston and the North Shore together; borrowing books, games and movies to pass the time during pandemic isolation via curbside pickup; or simply browsing and discovering new interests and passions via the materials on the library’s shelves.
Many of these experiences were made possible by the efforts of FOLL, and we were both inspired in recent years to get more involved through meetings and book sales (along with our families—Anne’s sons even volunteered at the most recent sales in June and October!). Now, we are honored to have the opportunity to lead this work and to build even more resources and memories for Lynnfield residents and families. We plan to continue FOLL’s regular calendar of events, and we look forward to working with many of you to shape new ideas for engagement with the community.
If you are interested in getting more involved, we have some immediate openings!
Are you social media savvy? We need a Social Media/Website Coordinator to keep our website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter up to date! Send us an email if you are interested.
Second – we need volunteers for the upcoming Lynnfield Art Guild Art Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7. We will be selling some specially curated books related to arts and culture. All we need is an hour of your time! Sign up here:
