Whole Foods – 5% Day Benefiting the Friends of the Lynnfield Library
Fantastic News! On September 24, 2014, the Friends of the Lynnfield Library will benefit from a 5% Day sponsored by Whole Foods at MarketStreet. Thanks to everyone involved in the selection process for determining that the Friends deserve this opportunity!
According to Whole Foods, “team members are part of the local community and they are passionate about supporting the local causes that are important to their shoppers and neighbors. Several times a year, their stores hold community giving days (otherwise known as “5% Days”) where five percent of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit or educational organization. The groups that benefit from these 5% Days are as varied as the communities themselves.”
Please get out the word to your family, neighbors and friends. We’d love a great turnout for this event on September 24. As this is breaking news, the Friends will provide more details as soon as they are available!
The Friends support the Museum Pass Program, purchase DVD’s for the library collection, and fund many programs for children, teens and adults. This is a wonderful chance to enhance the good we do for the library and, consequently, for the community.
Friends seeking Donations for the Annual Fall Book Sale – October 17-18, 2014
The Friends of the Lynnfield Library are preparing for our favorite fall event. The Friends’ annual used book sale is set for Saturday, October 18 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Meeting House with the “bag of books for $6 sale” taking place in the final hour. A Preview for Friends’ members only will be from 6:00- 8:00 pm on Friday, October 17, and all members will be welcome at that time. However, those Friends purchasing for resale will be welcome to purchase from 7:00 to 8:00 pm only.
In preparation for this annual event, the Friends are now seeking donations of hardcover non-fiction, small and large fiction and non-fiction paperbacks, DVDs, music CDs and all children and young adult materials. The Friends cannot accept VHS tapes, textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed collections or magazines.
Bring your boxed or bagged donations to the Library Circulation Desk or leave them in the library foyer. It would be most helpful for the staff if you could use boxes or bags that you can leave at the library with your donations. The library is accepting donations right up until the sale. If dropping off the books is not possible for you, the Friends offer home pick-ups. Please call Alexis Gilbode at 781.608.4179 to arrange a pick up. Donation receipts are available upon request.
According to Friends’ President Priscilla March, “The book sale is a great fund-raiser for the Library which helps fund Library programming and services, but it’s also a fun day for the many, many people who come to browse and perhaps pick up some bargains. We hope Lynnfielders will keep us in mind as they are choosing places to donate – and buy – books and other materials!”
The Friends of the Lynnfield Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supporting Library programs and activities both financially and through hundreds of volunteer hours each year. If you are interested in joining the Friends or would like information about the organization, please email the Friends at friend@foll.org.
