May 17 marked the occasion of the Friends Annual Spring Book Sale.  The forecast for heavy rain led to the decision to move the sale from its usual location on the Town Common to the interior of the Library.  Volunteers turned out on Friday evening to help prepare for the sale, and the change was handled smoothly due to their support.  The sale got off to a slow start due to the dismal weather, so Library staff came up with some clever ideas to attract customers.  The rain cleared around 11:00 a.m., and the Friends decided to extend the sale an extra hour to 2:00 p.m.  Customers enjoyed browsing the wonderful selections available of children’s and adult fiction, non-fiction books (cooking, history, travel, memoirs, and crafts), and an outstanding selection of DVDs.  Given the circumstances, the Friends are pleased to report that proceeds were in line with the results of the previous few years.
