This year, once again, a festive evening reception celebrated the efforts of the Lynnfield Library volunteers. Janine Saldanha, President of the Friends, welcomed everyone warmly. Then Library Director Nancy Ryan expressed her thankfulness to the volunteers, “The staff and I are grateful that the Lynnfield Library occupies such an important place in your life. You in turn serve as ambassadors to the community, promoting us and what we do, enriching our lives with your skills, talents and good humor…” The work of the volunteers at the library encompasses numerous tasks such as straightening books and videos, maintaining data bases of volunteer activities, and moving/organizing books for the book sales. Volunteers also assist patrons with genealogy requests, care for plants on library grounds and account for the money they raise. Nancy emphasized the dedication, kindness and generosity of the many volunteers!!

Every volunteer at the library is deeply appreciated. This year in particular we took time to honor the contributions of Marie Hill. Marie devoted a good portion of her time and boundless energy in the past 25 years to the Friends and by extension to the library. Her outstanding organization skills, enthusiasm, and marketing sense were very important in the Friends’ success. Nancy thanked Marie for her, “immense contribution to the strong foundation and structure that the Friends are today.”

Additional comments were made by Phil Crawford, Chair and Tom Terranova, Selectman and Robert Calamari, Chair, Library Board of Trustees. This year’s event was catered locally by Christine Picariello of Christine’s cafe who presented a pleasing selection of sandwiches and hors d’oeuvres.
