Annual Meeting Recap – May 23

The Annual Meeting of the Friends capped a busy year of fundraising for the library.  We began with casual conversation and delicious refreshments at 6:30 pm.  Then President Janine Saldanha called the business meeting to order.   In the absence of Treasurer Linda Burns, Nancy Ryan assured us that the Friends are in fine financial condition, with the annual appeal underway.  Nancy also thanked Janine Saldanha for her superb leadership in the past year.

Janine Saldanha announced the officers for FY 2014:  Janine Saldanha, President; Priscilla March, President-Elect; Lauren George, Secretary; and Linda Burns, Treasurer.   We have confidence in the continued leadership of the Friends.

The Annual Meeting concluded with a presentation by Dave Downs, King of Clutter Control.

He provided lots of helpful hints on how to control the excess STUFF in our lives.  The whole audience laughed knowingly at his insightful comments….his favorite way of getting rid of stuff, lending it to a friend (actually donating it to a charity)!   It’s impossible to repair most modern electronics cost effectively, yet we insist on keeping the old stuff around in storage–just in case!  When asked how a woman got rid of her grown kids’ things, she replied, “I moved.”
